Introduction
The GIBB YES Programme 2025/2026 offers unemployed South African youth a chance to gain valuable workplace exposure, build practical skills, and improve their employability. This initiative is part of the national Youth Employment Service (YES), a public-private collaboration aimed at combating youth unemployment.
What is the GIBB YES Internship Programme?
The GIBB YES Internship Programme provides unemployed graduates and diploma holders with structured work experience across various fields. Participants will benefit from:
- Practical work exposure
- A 12-month fixed-term contract
- Monthly stipend
- Skills development and mentorship
- Improved employability in South Africa’s competitive job market
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizen (born in South Africa)
- Aged 18–35 years
- Currently unemployed
- Available for a 12-month contract
- Not a previous YES Programme beneficiary
- Computer literate
- Willing to learn and grow in a professional environment
Role Responsibility
Successful candidates will:
- Gain hands-on experience in their field of study
- Contribute to real projects within GIBB Engineering & Architecture
- Work under mentorship and supervision of professionals
- Assist in day-to-day departmental responsibilities
- Apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting
- Build career-relevant skills to enhance employability

- 1 x Student with a BTech/National Diploma in Civil Engineering
Thabazimbi (Ref: GIB-351) – Closing 5 September 2025
- 1 x Student with a BTech/National Diploma in Civil Engineering
- 1 x Student registered with SACPCMP as a Candidate Health & Safety Officer (CAN CHSO) or with an NQF Level 4/5 in Health & Safety
Johannesburg (Closing 30 September 2025)
- Business Admin/Project/IT/Finance/Supply Chain (Ref: GIB-341) – Diploma/Degree in relevant field
- Electrical Engineering (Ref: GIB-344) – BTech/BEng in Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering (Ref: GIB-343) – BTech/BEng in Mechanical Engineering (CAD literacy, preferably AutoCAD, required)
