About the Programme

The Workplace Experiential Programme at Glencore South Africa is meticulously designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application. Tailored for students who have completed the theoretical portion of their studies, this programme offers:

  • P1 Placement: 6 months of practical work exposure.
  • P2 Placement: An additional 6 months of practical work exposure.

Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes

Participants will engage in the following activities:

  • Participate in an MQA-accredited work-integrated learning programme.
  • Gain hands-on training and exposure at Glencore’s Wonderkop Smelter.
  • Adhere to and comply with Glencore’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) systems.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: Completion of the S4 theory component of their qualification at a tertiary institution, needing only practical workplace experience to graduate.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Medical fitness as per the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
  • Understanding of HSEC systems.
