Job Description

The Trackless Crew Leader will be responsible for executing the monthly production plan by leading and coordinating a team of underground miners and machine operators. The role is focused on delivering consistent, safe, and high-quality mining outcomes aligned with the mine’s production and safety objectives.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet the following essential criteria to be considered for the position:

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
  • Certification:
    • Recognized Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in deep-level trackless mining operations
    • Proven familiarity with TM3 equipment and machinery, including related certifications
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
    • Must be declared medically fit to work in a deep-level mining environment
    • Must pass a Heat Tolerance Screening Test and other risk-based assessments conducted at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre
  • Security:
    • Secure full Gold Fields Security Clearance and complete all related occupational screening

Role Responsibility

The Trackless Crew Leader will be expected to execute a broad range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Ensuring that a safe and healthy working environment is maintained at all times
  • Driving strict compliance with the Mine Health & Safety Act and internal safety procedures
  • Leading operational teams and managing performance to meet and exceed production goals
  • Reporting all safety, production, and operational matters accurately and on time
  • Promoting teamwork and collaboration within the mining team and across departments
  • Managing disciplinary standards and promoting a culture of accountability
  • Ensuring the availability and optimal use of mining equipment and materials
  • Overseeing the proper handling, storage, and control of explosives
  • Monitoring and controlling production budgets and ensuring cost efficiency
  • Delivering high-quality mining results through strong planning and execution
