The Government Printing Works (GPW) is looking for Artisan Production candidates who have completed Grade 10 to join their dynamic team. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow within a critical government agency responsible for printing essential documents and materials for the South African government.

Key Responsibilities

As an Artisan in the Production department, you will be responsible for:

  • Operating packaging and bookbinding finishing equipment, including CMC packaging machines, guillotines, shrink wrap, and foiling machines.
  • Meeting daily production targets according to the schedule and standards.
  • Ensuring the safe processing of security materials in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Maintaining high-quality assurance and control on all security production materials.
  • Adhering to Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and Government Printing Works policies.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Grade 10 qualification or equivalent.
  • A completed apprenticeship and a Trade Test Certificate in the Mechanized Bookbinding Printing Trade.
  • Basic computer literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of CMC packaging equipment is an added advantage.
  • The ability to operate various binding equipment, including saddle-stitchers and packaging machines.
  • A commitment to work shifts.
