Johannesburg Pikitup (SOC) Limited is in the process of establishing a database for students who need WIL to complete their studies. This is also in a quest to address the growing demand by a tertiary institution for students to undergo on-the-job exposure, as a pre-requisite to acquire an academic qualification or as a requirement after qualifying to obtain experiential training.
The Johannesburg Pikitup Internship Programme is designed to attract talented graduates interested in waste management, environmental sustainability, engineering, finance, and related fields. This opportunity allows young professionals to work within the cityās official waste management company, gaining essential skills while contributing to Johannesburg’s sustainability efforts.

Selection Criteria:
- Must be youth (not older than 35) residing in Johannesburg.
- Must not have participated in a similar programme/s before
- Be a South African citizen
- Applicant must be unemployed
Key Responsibilities
Interns at Pikitup will have the chance to engage in various tasks depending on their specific departments:
- Environmental Management: Collaborating on waste management solutions and strategies to minimize environmental impact.
- Engineering: Assisting in projects related to waste processing and recycling technologies.
- Finance and Administration: Supporting financial operations, budget management, and administrative duties.
