Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy)
- Residency:
- Must reside in Pinetown or surrounding areas
- Employment Status:
- Must be currently unemployed
Subjects Required:
Candidates should have passed the following subjects at NQF Level 4:
- Mathematics / Technical Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy)
- Physical Science / Technical Science
- N3 Diesel Trade Theory and/or N3 Mechanotechnology
- Engineering Graphic and Design
Job Specification
During the 4-year apprenticeship, you will be expected to:
- Learn and Observe:
Gain a wide range of technical skills and processes under the instruction of experienced staff. - Demonstrate Skills:
Apply what you’ve learned by working independently or as part of a team, taking on more responsibilities as your skills develop. - Complete Apprentice Modules:
Successfully complete the prescribed modules from merSETA throughout your training period, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills. - Health and Safety:
Understand the importance of maintaining a safe working environment. - Workshop Maintenance:
Learn to maintain and repair workshop equipment. - Logbook Maintenance:
Keep a record of the projects you’ve worked on and the skills you’ve acquired over the course of the apprenticeship. - Workplace Housekeeping:
Ensure the workspace is kept tidy and professional. - Professional Conduct:
Maintain a smart appearance and always act in a professional manner. - Additional Duties:
Carry out any other tasks assigned that are appropriate to your role.
