LegalWise Bursaries 2024

LegalWise Bursaries 2024 As South Africa strides into the 2025 academic year, LegalWise is proud to extend an opportunity for ambitious students to enhance their educational journey through the LegalWise Bursary Programme. This initiative is designed to support the next generation of legal professionals, with a particular focus on those pursuing degrees in law and related fields. The bursary aims to alleviate the financial burden of education while fostering talent within the legal sector.

Application Deadline: 30 September 2024

The LegalWise Bursary Programme is open to current LegalWise Members and their children (biological, adopted, or under legal guardianship). It provides partial financial support for students enrolled in specific qualifications. The bursary covers annual registration and tuition fees up to R44,000 per year. However, it is crucial to note that the bursary does not extend to outstanding student debt or fees associated with failed subjects. LegalWise Bursaries 2024

The bursary is renewable annually based on three core criteria:

  1. Adherence to the Bursary Agreement Terms and Conditions.
  2. Satisfactory academic performance.
  3. Completion of mandatory vacation work.

To ensure the effectiveness of this support, students must complete their studies within the designated time frame set by their respective universities. Additionally, recipients are required to undertake paid vacation work at a nearby LegalWise branch for five weeks each year—two weeks during the June/July holidays and three weeks in December.

Students pursuing degrees in Accounting (BCom), Law (BA/BCom/LLB), Human Resource Management (BCom), Industrial Psychology (BCom), Information Science (BIS), Informatics (BCom/BSc), and Management (BCom) are eligible. Those studying BCom degrees and certain other fields will complete their vacation work and service obligation at the LegalWise Roodepoort branch. Students from outside the Roodepoort area will need to arrange their own travel and accommodation.

Upon graduation, bursary recipients must fulfill a service obligation with LegalWise. The duration of this service contract is six months of paid work for each year of bursary funding received.
