Introduction

The internship programme aims to provide practical workplace experience, improve employability, and enhance career readiness for graduates across a variety of disciplines. The programme runs for 24 months, giving candidates the opportunity to gain valuable industry exposure and skills development.

What is the Graduate Internship Programme at Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL)?

The RAL Graduate Internship Programme is a structured 24-month initiative designed to provide unemployed graduates with hands-on experience in their chosen fields of study. It offers opportunities across various business units including corporate services, finance, engineering, environmental management, legal services, supply chain, and more.

Interns will be mentored by experienced professionals, contributing to meaningful projects while developing essential workplace skills. The programme also supports transformation goals by prioritizing opportunities for young South African citizens, particularly from Limpopo Province.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following basic requirements:

  • South African citizens aged between 18–35 years
  • Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent Level 4/N3 qualification
  • A National Diploma, Degree, or relevant qualification in the chosen field of internship
  • Computer literacy (MS Office proficiency)
  • Certified copies of academic transcripts, qualifications, and ID
  • Comprehensive CV with at least two contactable referees
  • Motivational cover letter specifying the position applied for
  • Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by SAQA (attach certified evaluation certificate)

Additional Criteria

  • Preference will be given to residents of Limpopo Province
  • Applicants who previously participated in government or SOE internships are not eligible
  • Successful candidates will undergo background checks including qualification and criminal record verification

Role Responsibility:

  • Assisting within their allocated department under supervision of mentors
  • Supporting organisational projects, tasks, and administrative duties
  • Contributing to research, analysis, planning, and reporting
  • Gaining exposure to sector-related legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Applying theoretical knowledge in practical work environments
  • Enhancing workplace readiness and employability
