The Role: Tax Intern

As a Tax Intern at Momentum Metropolitan, you will be part of the Human Capital Finance team, where your primary focus will be on tax compliance and reporting. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of employee tax processes and regulations specific to the financial services industry. You will work alongside a team of experienced tax professionals, gaining valuable insights and developing skills that will set the foundation for a successful career in finance.

Key Responsibilities

The Tax Intern will have a diverse range of responsibilities, including:

1. Tax Compliance and Reporting:

  • Assist with the AA88 (SARS agent statements) process for Momentum Metropolitan and its subsidiaries.
  • Help gather and organize necessary documentation to support regulatory filings.
  • Support the preparation of bi-annual and tax-year-end submissions.
  • Assist with ad hoc payment and reconciliation processes within the Finance team.

2. Tax Research and Planning:

  • Conduct research on employee tax issues and regulations affecting the financial services industry.
  • Support the implementation of tax planning strategies to optimize tax efficiency.

3. Audit Support:

  • Assist in gathering and preparing documentation for tax audits.
  • Support the Tax team in maintaining and organizing audit trails.

4. Process Improvement:

  • Participate in the review and improvement of existing tax processes and procedures.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
  • Assist in special projects and ad hoc tasks as needed.
