Job Description

The Research Data Collectors will play a crucial role in gathering accurate and reliable data for MKRI’s research projects. This position involves working closely with communities and adhering to strict ethical and professional standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting door-to-door data collection in assigned district municipalities.
  • Collecting data through surveys, personal interviews, and telephonic interviews.
  • Capturing data in the prescribed MKRI format.
  • Ensuring data quality and integrity throughout the collection process.
  • Adhering to ethical guidelines and maintaining confidentiality.

The role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in the field.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this position is a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in research and data collection. They should possess excellent communication skills, be proficient in both English and IsiZulu, and have a valid tertiary qualification (NQF 6 to NQF 8).

Key attributes of the ideal candidate include:

  • A valid tertiary qualification (NQF 8 is an added advantage).
  • Computer literacy and the ability to operate a mobile device.
  • A working smartphone for data collection purposes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with diverse communities.
  • A valid Code 08/10 driver’s license (advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Availability during the last week of February 2025.

Role Responsibility

As a Research Data Collector, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accurate and efficient collection of data for MKRI’s research projects. This will involve:

  • Traveling to designated district municipalities within KZN.
  • Conducting surveys and interviews with participants.
  • Capturing and verifying data in the prescribed format.
  • Maintaining high standards of data quality and integrity.
  • Adhering to ethical guidelines and ensuring participant confidentiality.
  • Reporting any challenges or issues encountered during data collection.

This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
