Old Mutual’s Corporate Actuarial team offers new entrants an excellent platform to gain invaluable experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The position involves working on various actuarial tasks, including financial reporting and valuation processes, ensuring that reserves and capital are appropriately maintained. This hybrid role will offer the chance to collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders, providing business insights that drive impactful decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
As an Intermediate Actuarial Specialist, you will be responsible for the following:
- Group Assurance Valuations and Reporting: Participate in the valuation process, ensuring robust financial results while maintaining adequate reserves.
- Reserving and Embedded Value: Provide insights into market-consistent embedded values and the analysis of surplus.
- Solvency Capital and Risk Calculations: Help calculate solvency capital, earnings at risk, and value of new business.
- Actuarial Data Analysis: Develop and maintain tools to enhance the understanding of actuarial data and improve reporting efficiencies.
- Process Efficiency: Ensure that actuarial processes are efficient, automated, and well-controlled.
- Ad-hoc Projects: Assist with special projects that provide further opportunities for growth and business insight.
- Support to the Consolidation Team: Offer support to other actuarial teams as needed.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or a related field.
- Actuarial Credits: 4-5 actuarial credits completed.
- Experience: No prior experience is required, making this the perfect entry-level opportunity.
- Skills: Strong technical ability with attention to detail, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), and effective collaboration with various teams and stakeholders.
