The Delivery Assistant will work within the Supply Chain division to support logistical operations, particularly focusing on timely and efficient delivery of bread and other related products.
Tasks
As a Delivery Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring stock and ensuring accurate deliveries
- Assisting with the loading and offloading of products
- Supporting the driver in navigating and positioning the vehicle safely
- Ensuring proof of delivery (POD) control and maintaining accurate delivery documentation
- Practicing safe working habits and reporting all incidents and accidents without delay
- Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times
- Performing general housekeeping duties at the distribution centre and in delivery vehicles
- Securing loads effectively during transport
- Assisting with damage reporting and paperwork control
Qualifications
To be considered for the role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12) – Essential
- A Code 10 or higher valid driver’s license with PDP is advantageous
- Ability to follow delivery protocols and maintain proper documentation
- Physically capable of performing manual labor in a logistics and transport setting
Experience
- Previous experience in a logistics or delivery environment is beneficial but not required
- Strong communication and organizational skills are crucial for daily interaction with team members and clients
- A background in safe handling, product loading, and inventory control would be advantageous
- Flexibility to work varied hours and operate in a fast-paced environment
