What is The Phakamile Mabija Apprenticeship Programme?
The programme equips learners with technical and workplace skills through a 36-month apprenticeship. Participants receive theoretical training, practical workplace experience, and financial support in the form of a stipend. On completion, apprentices graduate with a Red Seal qualification, a nationally recognised certification that opens doors to career opportunities across South Africa.
Apprenticeship Fields Available
Applicants can apply for apprenticeships in the following trades:
- Boilermaking: N2 qualification required with Engineering Maths, Science, Drawings, and Boilermaking Trade Theory.
- Fitting and Turning: N2 qualification required with Engineering Maths, Science, Drawings, and Fitting & Turning Trade Theory.
- Welding: Level 4 qualification required with Engineering Maths, Science, Drawings, and Platers Trade Theory.
- Refrigeration: N2 qualification required with Engineering Maths, Science, Drawings, and Electrical Trade Theory.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Phakamile Mabija Apprenticeship Programme, applicants must:
- Be South African citizens aged 18–35.
- Be unemployed and willing to commit to the full 36-month programme.
- Meet the trade-specific qualification requirements.
