What is Pick n Pay Buyer Traineeship 2025?

The Pick n Pay Buyer Traineeship is a structured programme that offers aspiring buyers the chance to learn how to select, purchase, and manage products for one of South Africa’s biggest retailers. Participants gain exposure to supplier negotiations, quality control, and market analysis while learning how to balance customer needs with business profitability.

This traineeship is ideal for individuals passionate about clothing, apparel, and fashion trends who want to grow into a retail buying career.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• A BA/BCom degree or a relevant clothing/textile diploma from a registered institution
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Knowledge of CorelDRAW and Photoshop (advantageous)
• Experience in a clothing or textile-related environment
• Willingness to work extended hours and conduct regular store visits

Role Responsibility

As a Buyer Trainee at Pick n Pay, your responsibilities will include:

• Selecting products that align with customer needs and store strategies
• Negotiating with suppliers to secure competitive prices without compromising quality
• Collaborating with suppliers to meet quantity and production deadlines
• Ensuring merchandise is displayed strategically in stores
• Overseeing administrative tasks in the buying process, including compliance and documentation
• Maintaining product quality standards to support customer satisfaction
