The Department is offering an opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in firefighting. We are seeking dedicated, physically fit, and disciplined individuals to participate in the Learner Firefighter Programme.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 qualification (Matric Certificate)
- South African citizenship
- Valid Code B driver’s licence.
- No criminal record
- Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 34
- Physically and medically fit (a fitness assessment will be conducted)
- Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments
Key Responsibilities:
Participants in this programme will be trained in fire prevention, fire suppression, emergency rescue operations, and other critical skills required in the fire and emergency services field. Learners will be expected to undergo extensive physical and theoretical training throughout the duration of the programme.
Duration:
This is a fixed-term training programme. The successful candidates will be enrolled in the training course for a defined period, during which they will receive structured theoretical and practical instruction.
Remuneration:
A monthly stipend will be provided for the duration of the training. This is not a permanent employment offer but a developmental opportunity.
Selection Process:
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to undergo physical and medical assessments, followed by interviews. Final selection will be based on performance during these stages and the candidate’s overall suitability for the demands of the firefighting profession.
