General Requirements for the MSDS 2024/2025
To qualify for the SANDF Military Skills Development System (MSDS) program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
✔ Citizenship: South African citizen (No dual citizenship). ✔ Age Requirement:
- 18 – 22 years old: Must have completed Grade 12 (or N3 with six subjects, including two languages).
- 23 – 26 years old: Must hold a 3-year tertiary qualification (Degree, National Diploma, or N6 with N4 and N5 certificates). ✔ Marital Status: Preferably single. ✔ Medical Fitness: Must meet the SANDF medical fitness standards. ✔ Criminal Record: No criminal record. ✔ Education: Currently in Grade 12 or completed Grade 12 (or equivalent) with subjects relevant to the chosen military career. ✔ Mobility: Not area-bound; must be willing to relocate if required. ✔ Deployment: Must be willing to serve within South Africa and abroad if deployed. ✔ Selection Board: Must pass all selection board assessments and requirements.
