Job Description
The General Worker will support the Skukuza Rest Camp team by performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance-related tasks. The successful candidate will contribute to the upkeep of the facilities and ensure that visitors enjoy a clean and safe environment during their stay.
Key duties will include:
- Cleaning chalets, ablution blocks, and common areas to the prescribed hygiene standards.
- Assisting with general maintenance and upkeep tasks within the rest camp.
- Supporting laundry duties and ad hoc cleaning responsibilities.
- Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good working order.
- Reporting any faults, maintenance needs, or inventory shortages.
- Complying with all health and safety protocols.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification:
- Minimum of Grade 12 (Matric Certificate).
- Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic understanding of hygiene and housekeeping standards.
- Working knowledge of health and safety procedures in the workplace.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
- Familiarity with tool handling and equipment care.
- Advantageous Attributes:
- Supervisory or leadership experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in cleaning or hospitality roles will be an added advantage.
- Other Requirements:
- Willingness to reside inside the Kruger National Park.
- Commitment to working flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Role Responsibility
The successful applicant will be tasked with supporting the smooth daily operations of the Skukuza Rest Camp. Responsibilities include:
- Cleaning Responsibilities:
- Dusting, sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting chalets and communal areas.
- Daily cleaning of ablution facilities and monitoring cleanliness levels throughout the day.
- Waste removal and adherence to eco-friendly disposal practices.
- Inventory and Maintenance Support:
- Monitoring and controlling cleaning supply stock levels.
- Assisting with the transportation and collection of supplies as needed.
- Identifying and reporting maintenance problems (e.g., leaking taps, faulty lights).
- Laundry and Ad Hoc Duties:
- Assisting the laundry team with sorting, washing, drying, and folding linen.
- Supporting other teams with temporary or seasonal duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Participating in periodic deep-cleaning routines and camp beautification projects.
