The Role: Insurance Consultant
As an Insurance Consultant at Santam, you will be pivotal in delivering comprehensive service and support to brokers. Your role is critical to ensuring brokers and their clients receive top-tier service, particularly regarding policy inquiries and maintenance. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your responsibilities as an Insurance Consultant will include, but are not limited to:
- Servicing Broker Requests: Addressing and resolving broker inquiries via telephone and email.
- Policy Management: Handling the issuance of new policies, policy maintenance, renewals, and agricultural aspects of policies. This includes managing state farm renters insurance and state farm home insurance policies.
- Client Follow-Ups: Engaging with clients when policies are canceled to understand their reasons and attempt to retain their business.
- Premium Adjustments: Adjusting premiums in accordance with new asset values.
- Expectation Management: Ensuring clients are aware of expected turnaround times for their requests.
- Underwriting Criteria: Adhering to underwriting criteria and regional requirements.
- Client Profiling: Assisting in profiling clients to ensure they receive the most suitable product and coverage, such as small business insurance and product liability insurance.
- Consultation and Advice: Providing brokers with advice to ensure clients’ needs are met with the correct cover and product, whether it be state farm life insurance or business interruption insurance.
- Solution Implementation: Contributing to the development and implementation of solutions for process improvement.
- Temporary Coverage: Standing in for other consultants during busy periods or when key resources are unavailable.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for the Insurance Consultant position must possess the following:
- Educational Qualification: Matric/Grade 12.
- FAIS Credits: 60 commercial lines FAIS credits.
- Insurance Qualification: A relevant insurance-related qualification (e.g., NQF level 4) is advantageous.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in short-term insurance, specifically in commercial lines and/or agricultural assets. Experience with state farm b2b and commercial insurance products is beneficial.
- Industry Knowledge: Proven work experience in commercial and agriculture policy administration and underwriting within the short-term insurance industry.
