Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following qualifications and criteria:

Educational Qualifications

• Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NQF Level 4).

Certifications

• Registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
• Possession of a minimum Grade C security certificate.

Legal Compliance

• Must not be declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Advantageous Qualifications

• A Diploma or Degree in security-related fields.
• Completion of relevant security courses.
• A valid driver’s license for light motor vehicles or higher.

Other Requirements

• Willingness to work shifts and extended hours.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will handle diverse security duties to ensure the safety and protection of SAPS premises and personnel. Responsibilities include:

1. Access Control
   • Regulate access to SAPS premises and vehicles.
   • Enforce compliance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act (Act No. 53 of 1985).
2. Visitor Management
   • Verify visitor identities and issue access control cards.
   • Maintain and monitor access registers.
3. Security Monitoring
   • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, equipment, and personnel.
   • Identify and mitigate potential security threats.
4. Supervision
   • Oversee cleaners and maintenance staff to ensure their activities align with security protocols.
5. Equipment Maintenance
   • Regularly inspect security equipment and report deficiencies to senior personnel.
6. Shift Work
   • Work irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
