The South African Police Union (SAPU) has announced an exciting opportunity for youth development in 2025, with 150 learnership positions available across five provinces. This initiative is designed to empower dependants of active SAPU members, providing them with accredited qualifications, workplace readiness skills, and career growth opportunities. The programme focuses on strengthening families of union members while contributing positively to community development.

Minimum Requirements


Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the SAPU Learnership Programme:

  • Be a dependant (son, daughter, niece, nephew, etc.) of an active SAPU member
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Hold a matric certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Have no criminal record
  • Be supported by a Dibanani/MA-SAPU policy of the main SAPU member
  • Provide a certified copy of the ID of both the main member and the applicant

Provinces and Available Learnership Opportunities


SAPU is offering 150 learnership placements distributed as follows:

  • Eastern Cape – 40 opportunities
  • Mpumalanga – 25 opportunities
  • Gauteng – 25 opportunities
  • Free State – 40 opportunities
  • Northern Cape – 20 opportunities

Role Responsibility


Successful applicants will be enrolled in structured learnership programmes that combine theoretical knowledge with practical workplace experience. Participants will:

  • Undertake accredited qualifications such as New Venture Creation NQF Level 2 and Youth Development NQF Level 5
  • Gain hands-on experience in administrative and development-related roles
  • Learn valuable skills that enhance employability and career readiness
  • Contribute positively to their communities through knowledge application
