The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is looking for 11 Security Officials to join the General Security Management Department (GSMD) at their Pretoria Head Office. This exciting opportunity is perfect for individuals with a solid background in security and a commitment to excellence.
As a Security Official, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of SARB personnel, facilities, and assets. Here’s what your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Access and Egress Control: Monitor and manage access points to safeguard restricted areas.
- Guarding, Patrolling, and Escorting Duties: Protect SARB facilities from unauthorized activities through vigilant patrolling and escorting.
- Security Threat Response: Identify, report, and respond to security and emergency situations.
- Security System Monitoring: Ensure the optimal use of all security systems and equipment.
- Emergency Management: Conduct evacuations and emergency drills when required.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain detailed reports through occurrence books, pocketbooks, and incident reporting systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively enhance your knowledge of security practices and SARB operations.
Qualifications and Requirements
To secure this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Education:
- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
- Certifications:
- PSIRA Grade C certification.
- Firearm competency certificate for 9 mm pistols, semi-automatic rifles, and shotguns.
- Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in a security environment.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with key legislation, including the National Key Points Act, Firearms Control Act, and Criminal Procedure Act.
- A high level of medical, psychological, and physical fitness.
- Professionalism, discipline, and the ability to work long hours.
- Work Environment Requirements:
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Additional Skills and Competencies:
- Adherence to instructions, principles, and values.
- Strong decision-making and reporting abilities.
- Flexibility to adapt to operational demands.
- Resilience under pressure.
