  • At least 2–3 years at Functional Specialist level
  • Alternative: A Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4) with 10 years’ experience in data analysis, forecasting, or predictive modelling

Role Responsibility

The Revenue Analyst will be responsible for leading and coordinating revenue forecasting, scenario modelling, and advanced data analytics to support SARS’s strategic decision-making. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating data collection, validation, and integration across multiple business units
  • Conducting advanced trend and scenario analyses for revenue forecasting
  • Developing and implementing forecasting models and analytics frameworks

Introduction

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is recruiting an Investigator: Digital Forensics for its Illicit Economy Unit within the Taxpayer Engagement Division. This position is designed for a skilled, self-directed professional with proven expertise in digital forensics, evidence management, and investigative processes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, acquiring, preserving, analysing, and reporting on digital evidence in a way that withstands legal scrutiny. This role plays a vital part in SARS’s efforts to combat financial crimes, enforce tax compliance, and protect the integrity of South Africa’s revenue system.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Digital Forensics, Computer Science, or related field, with 5–7 years’ experience in Digital Forensics (2–3 years at a technically skilled level)
    OR
  • Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4) with 10 years’ experience in Digital Forensics (2–3 years at a technically skilled level)

Additional Technical Competencies:

  • Evidence collection, preservation, and chain of custody management
  • Knowledge of Adjective Law and its application in tax investigations
