Role Responsibility as a Junior Chemical Plant Operator
The Junior Chemical Plant Operator will coordinate and manage maintenance and repair processes within a production unit. Key responsibilities include monitoring operations via control panels, conducting complex troubleshooting, and ensuring safe, efficient plant performance in line with Sasol’s operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor plant equipment using control panels
- Conduct complex troubleshooting to restore operations
- Provide timely and detailed feedback to supervisors
- Participate in risk assessments as per legal and internal safety standards
- Ensure clean, safe work areas in accordance with housekeeping standards
- Apply safety procedures and work independently when needed
- Take part in daily shift handovers and toolbox talks
- Identify own training needs and contribute to personal development plans
- Provide on-the-job coaching to learners and new operators
- Perform inspections to uphold plant sustainability
- Respond effectively in emergencies to restore plant operations
- Collaborate across disciplines to resolve day-to-day challenges
- Promote safety by giving input during safety briefings and meetings
Minimum Requirements:
- Occupational Trade Qualification/Certificate (relevant to chemical or mechanical operations)
- A minimum of 3 years’ relevant operational experience
