Seriti, a major player in South Africa’s energy and resources sector, is offering a valuable learner opportunity to individuals from Khutala Host Communities. The role, Community Learner OMM UG, is aimed at developing operational mining skills and is part of Seriti’s commitment to social and community development.
Successful candidates will be trained to operate underground mining machinery used in coal production at Khutala Colliery. Under the supervision of experienced miners and machine operators, learners will gain the knowledge, skills, and experience required to work in an underground production environment.
Tasks
The responsibilities of the Community Learner OMM UG include:
- Operating underground mining equipment as part of the coal production process
- Supporting production teams by performing duties around the operational area
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards in the underground work environment
- Identifying equipment faults and reporting them without direct supervision
- Participating in structured training programmes related to mining operations
- Adhering strictly to safety standards and operational procedures
Qualifications
To be considered, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 10 qualification with Mathematics, Science, and English
- Ability and willingness to be trained on various types of underground mining machinery
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance
- Ability to pass a practical driving assessment and be declared competent
- Willingness to undergo a behavioural assessment as part of the selection process
- No fear of working at heights or with large machinery
- Physically fit and able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
- Capable of working effectively in a team and under production pressure
Experience
The position is entry-level, and previous work experience is not required. However, the following will be considered advantageous:
- Previous exposure to a mining environment
- Valid K53 driver’s license
These additional experiences will improve your application but are not mandatory.
