Job Description

The Tactical Security Officer – Grade B (NKP) role is a specialized position that requires a high level of training, discipline, and expertise. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of clients, assets, and personnel in high-risk environments. This role demands a proactive approach to threat assessment, risk mitigation, and emergency response.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting armed response and escorting duties in high-risk areas.
  • Performing crowd control and maintaining order in potentially volatile situations.
  • Utilizing defensive driving techniques to ensure safe transportation of personnel and assets.
  • Operating firearms (handgun, shotgun, and rifle) in compliance with business-purpose regulations.
  • Conducting underground mining security operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Performing pre-employment polygraph tests to maintain the integrity of the security team.
  • Communicating effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Utilizing computer systems for reporting and documentation purposes.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role is a highly trained and disciplined individual with a strong background in tactical security operations. They must possess a deep understanding of security protocols, risk management, and emergency response strategies.

Key attributes of the ideal candidate include:

  • A valid Grade B PSIRA certificate or higher.
  • A completed NKP qualification, demonstrating advanced tactical training.
  • Firearm competency for business purposes, including handgun, shotgun, and rifle.
  • A valid driver’s license and defensive driving skills (advantageous).
  • Formal crowd control training and experience in managing large groups.
  • Underground mining experience, ensuring familiarity with unique security challenges.
  • Armed response service experience, showcasing the ability to handle high-pressure situations.
  • Escorting experience, highlighting the ability to protect and transport valuable assets.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • Computer literacy, enabling efficient reporting and documentation.
  • Residency in Secunda or surrounding areas, ensuring availability for duty.

Role Responsibility
