Background & Job Description
Sibanye-Stillwater, a leading global precious metals mining company, is inviting applications for 12 permanent Guard positions within the Region Services SA Protection Services PGM. These positions are open to both internal and external applicants. The role focuses on securing company assets, ensuring the safety of employees and visitors, and maintaining high operational standards in a high-risk environment.
Applicants must undergo pre-screening, psychometric assessments, and security clearance. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. Applications not responded to within 14 days of submission should be regarded as unsuccessful.
Tasks
- Patrolling and Guarding
- Conduct regular patrols on foot or by vehicle
- Protect Sibanye-Stillwater employees, visitors, and infrastructure
- Participate in crime prevention and crowd facilitation duties
- Identify and respond to potential risks within the workplace
- Access Control
- Verify identity and employee status of all personnel entering the premises
- Control entry and exit points for people and vehicles
- Conduct searches as per protocol
- Reporting and Administration
- Record all security incidents and observations on the Crime Administration System (CiMMS)
- Report suspicious activity or breaches to supervisors immediately
- Stakeholder Relations
- Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Cost Management and ESG Compliance
- Support cost-saving and sustainable operational initiatives
- Align duties with Human Rights and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) principles
- SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all SHE policies and procedures
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in health and safety investigations
- Instil and promote a culture of safety in all operations
- Quality Management System (QMS)
- Comply with QMS protocols to ensure operational excellence and safety
Qualifications
- NQF Level 2 qualification (Grade 10) – Minimum requirement
- PSIRA Grade C registration – Mandatory
- Valid Firearm Competency Certificate issued by SAPS – Required
- Valid Driver’s License – Essential
- Advantageous qualifications include:
- NQF Level 4 (Grade 12 or NSC for Adults)
- Crowd control management certification
- Tactical firearm training and certification
- Defence and restrain techniques certification
- Advanced driving skills certification
- Certified competency in the use of handguns, shotguns, self-loading rifles, or carbines for business purposes
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a high-risk security environment
- Must be declared medically fit for the position and working environment
- Successful completion of security screening and clearance
- Ability to work in a high-pressure security environment
