Minimum Requirements

To qualify, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Education & Registration:
    • Possession of a National Senior Certificate.
    • PSIRA Grade C registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority.
  2. Experience:
    • At least 3 years’ experience in a high-risk security environment.
  3. Skills:
    • Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
    • Report writing and strong communication skills.
  4. Additional Competencies:
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive.
    • Firearm competency certificate (or ability to obtain one) in compliance with the Firearm Control Act, Act 60 of 2000.
    • Proven analytical skills, discipline, and self-assurance.
    • South African citizenship.
    • Capability to work in a team, be results-oriented, and adapt to shift work.
  5. Screening & Verification:
    • Successful completion of pre-employment psychological screenings.
    • Credit and criminal record checks.
    • Medical fitness certification through the Sibanye-Stillwater Occupational Health Centre.
    • Physical and functional fitness certification through a Physical and Functional Work Capacity (PFWC) assessment.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following additional certifications will have an advantage:

  • Crowd control management.
  • Tactical firearm handling.
  • Advanced driving skills.
  • Certification in the use of firearms such as handguns, shotguns, self-loading rifles, or carbines for business purposes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Guard, your primary duties will include:

  1. Access Control:
    • Ensuring only authorized employees, contractors, and visitors access Sibanye-Stillwater premises by verifying identities.
  2. Patrol and Inspection:
    • Conducting routine patrols (on foot or in vehicles) and inspecting buildings and infrastructure for security breaches.
  3. Safety Protocols:
    • Executing procedures to protect employees and visitors on-site.
  4. Incident Management:
    • Facilitating crowds and responding to security incidents with first-line reactions.
  5. Professional Presence:
    • Maintaining a customer-friendly and professional security presence at all times.
  6. Searches and Reporting:
    • Conducting vehicle and personnel searches as per established protocols.
    • Reporting suspicious activities and escalating issues to supervisors when necessary.
