Job Description
The NECSA Apprenticeship Programme 2025 is a structured, competency-based training programme that aims to address skills shortages in South Africa. Successful applicants will undergo formal instruction combined with hands-on work experience in NECSA’s state-of-the-art training facilities.
The programme is fully accredited and offers candidates an opportunity to qualify as artisans in their chosen trades after the completion of the three-year apprenticeship. Accommodation and a monthly stipend are provided throughout the programme to support learners during their training.

Ideal Candidate
To be eligible for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Residency Criteria:
- Must reside in one of these provinces:
- Eastern Cape
- Free State
- KwaZulu-Natal
- Limpopo
- Mpumalanga
- Northern Cape
- North West
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics and Science
- OR N2–N6 with 4 relevant subjects (including trade theory)
- OR Technical Matric with Maths, Science, and trade theory
- OR NCV Level 3 or 4 Engineering Certificate with 7 relevant subjects
Additional Requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Aged between 18–35 years
- Must be technically inclined
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
- Medically fit for work in industrial environments
- Must pass a background security clearance and qualification verification

Role Responsibility
Selected candidates will be enrolled into NECSA’s nationally recognised training programme and will assume the following responsibilities:
- Attend all scheduled theoretical and practical training sessions
- Participate in on-the-job learning under the supervision of qualified mentors
- Adhere to occupational health and safety standards
- Demonstrate consistent progress in technical skill assessments
- Work collaboratively with fellow apprentices and trainers
- Maintain accurate training logs and assessment records
Apprentices will be exposed to real-world engineering projects, including nuclear energy applications, plant maintenance, precision manufacturing, and instrument calibration, giving them a comprehensive understanding of their selected trade.
