The South African Reserve Bank (SARB), a key institution in regulating South Africa’s financial system, is urgently seeking 13 qualified and physically fit individuals to join its elite security team at the Head Office in Pretoria. This is a strategic role for maintaining safety and security of personnel, infrastructure, and critical financial assets. The successful candidates will be expected to perform high-level security functions that ensure SARB’s operations continue unhindered.
This opportunity is ideal for disciplined professionals with extensive experience in the security sector, particularly those with exposure to national key point facilities, firearms competency, and emergency protocol execution.
Tasks
The successful Security Officials will carry out the following responsibilities:
- Control access and egress to SARB facilities ensuring only authorized personnel gain entry.
- Patrol, guard and escort individuals or assets to deter unauthorized or illegal activities.
- Respond to, identify, and report all types of security threats, including emergencies.
- Monitor and manage security systems, surveillance, and electronic signals for optimal functionality.
- Execute building evacuations and drills during emergency situations.
- Maintain administrative records including writing security reports and updating digital occurrence logs.
- Display proactive learning behavior by improving existing security practices and staying updated on emerging threats.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:
- Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
- Valid PSIRA Grade C certificate.
- Valid competency certificate for the use of firearms (pistol, semi-automatic rifle, shotgun).
- Proven understanding of:
- National Key Points (NKP) Act 102 of 1980
- Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000
- Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977
- Knowledge of SARB’s internal security protocols and firearm policies.
- Demonstrated physical, medical, and psychological fitness suitable for demanding shift work.
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, and respond to security emergencies.
Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of 2–5 years of solid experience in a regulated security environment. Additional skills and traits desired include:
- Strict adherence to protocols and operational instructions.

- Ability to cope under pressure, display adaptability, and maintain resilience in high-stress environments.
