Introduction

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is inviting applications for its Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme 2025, designed specifically for TVET College learners. This structured programme runs for 18 months and offers learners the opportunity to gain valuable workplace exposure and practical experience in their field of study.

This opportunity is particularly aimed at learners who have recently completed an N6 qualification in Management Assistant, providing them with the practical training required to fulfil their National Diploma requirements.


What is Transnet Internships?

Internships and Work Integrated Learning Programmes, like those offered by SAWS, give students and graduates an opportunity to bridge the gap between academic learning and workplace application. Similar to Transnet internships, these programmes are designed to empower young South Africans by offering professional development, practical workplace skills, and exposure to real industry challenges, while also boosting their employability.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the programme:

  • Completed an N6 in Management Assistant
  • Must have been unemployed for less than one year after completion of the N6
  • Must submit:
    • Certificate of Achievement
    • A letter from the College confirming intent to complete the Diploma
    • Comprehensive CV (with clear details of ID, residential address, etc.)
  • People living with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply (with a letter of confirmation of disability from a doctor)

Role Responsibility

Learners will be expected to:

  • Participate in an 18-month Work Integrated Learning Programme at SAWS Centurion offices
  • Apply theoretical knowledge gained during N6 studies into a professional work environment
  • Perform assigned administrative tasks and provide support within the Management Assistant role
  • Contribute positively to the SAWS workplace and gain workplace readiness skills
  • Arrange their own accommodation and transport to Centurion
