Introduction
The Swartland Municipality is inviting applications from passionate young leaders to join the 2025 Sondeza Afri-Youth Camp as Youth Workers. Celebrating its 20th year in 2025, the camp continues to empower future leaders by bringing together 50 Grade 10 and 11 learners from West Coast schools, along with international participants, for cultural exchange, personal growth, and leadership training. This opportunity is ideal for young people with a background in Education, Social Development, or community youth work who are ready to make an impact.

The camp will run from 2 – 12 December 2025, with compulsory training taking place on 14 – 15 November 2025 in Malmesbury.

What is Swartland Municipality Sondeza Afri-Youth Camp Youth Worker Vacancies?
The Youth Worker vacancies are designed for individuals aged 22–28 who are motivated to guide and support learners during the camp. A total of 11 positions are available (4 male and 7 female). Successful applicants will not only earn a stipend but also gain valuable experience in leadership, youth engagement, and personal development while enjoying a supportive and vibrant camp environment.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following:

  • Minimum Grade 12 qualification with experience in youth work after matric
  • A Degree/Diploma in Education, Social Science, or Youth Work is an added advantage
  • Age between 22 and 28 years
  • South African citizenship
  • Ability to attend compulsory training in Malmesbury
  • Physically fit with medium fitness level
  • Fluent in English (speak, read, and write)
  • Prior involvement in youth development or community projects is recommended
  • Previous participation in Sondeza Afri-Youth Camps will be an advantage
  • Must submit a Name Clearance Certificate from SAPS (final version required before camp)

Role Responsibility
As a Youth Worker, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and supporting learners during camp activities
  • Assisting in cultural exchange, leadership, and group development programmes
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to participants
  • Ensuring the safety, discipline, and well-being of learners
  • Assisting in the organisation and smooth running of daily camp schedules
  • Promoting teamwork and positive engagement among participants
