Job Description
The appointed General Workers will form part of the RNC Construction Teams and assist in maintaining and constructing Overhead Track Equipment (OHTE). Your primary responsibility is to ensure the effective execution of operational duties to support uninterrupted rail infrastructure services.
This position aligns closely with Eskom career goals that require safety consciousness, reliability, and physical aptitude, similar to Eskom vacancies within technical and infrastructural support functions. Candidates will perform a wide variety of general labor tasks that ensure a safe and productive working environment across multiple sites.

Role Responsibility
- Support RNC Construction teams in OHTE maintenance and upgrades
- Load, offload, and transport materials to and from work sites
- Carry and erect 12-meter extension ladders for high-elevation tasks
- Clean work areas by sweeping floors, removing weeds, and disposing of rubble
- Use non-mechanised hand tools in construction settings
- Maintain and clean tools regularly
- Perform duties in confined spaces and at elevated heights
- Work in high-noise environments while adhering to safety protocols
- Comply with supervisor directives and complete daily task checklists

Minimum Qualifications & Competency Requirements
- Education: Grade 9 minimum
- Experience: At least 6 months of relevant experience preferred
- Medical Fitness: Must pass a mandatory medical examination to be declared fit for duty
- Other Requirements:
- Must be physically fit and able to carry out physically demanding work
- Must be willing to work at heights and in enclosed areas
- Must be prepared to work under varying weather conditions
- Must be available to work on short notice for extended hours
