Introduction
The Department of Employment and Labour, through the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) Labour Activation Programme (LAP), in partnership with Mahube Training & Development, is offering an exciting learnership opportunity. The programme seeks to empower unemployed individuals by providing them with practical skills and training in Electrical Engineering, NQF Level 2. A total of 50 learners will be selected to join this 12-month programme, aimed at bridging the gap between education and employment while supporting skills development in the country.

What is the UIF LAP Learnership Programme?
The UIF Labour Activation Programme (LAP) is a national skills development initiative funded by the Unemployment Insurance Fund. It is designed to re-skill and upskill unemployed individuals to enhance their employability and enable them to re-enter the workforce. The Electrical Engineering NQF 2 Learnership provides structured training that combines theoretical learning with workplace experience, equipping participants with hands-on skills relevant to the electrical engineering sector.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- Must be a previous contributor to the UIF
- Age between 18–40 years
- Must be unemployed at the time of application
- Must be willing to attend training in Modimolle only
Role Responsibility:
Selected learners will:
- Participate in structured training in Electrical Engineering (NQF 2)
- Gain theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical systems and safety procedures
- Engage in workplace-related assignments and projects
- Commit to the 12-month programme duration without interruption
- Adhere to the rules, code of conduct, and learning standards as set by the training provider
