The uMngeni Water Services Internship Programme 2025 is designed to bridge the gap between academic studies and the workplace. Interns will be assigned to various uMngeni-uThukela Water sites across KwaZulu-Natal, including major locations such as eThekwini, Msunduzi, and uMhlathuze. The program supports national efforts to upskill youth, providing them with practical training, mentorship, and financial support through a monthly stipend.
This structured programme caters to a total of 30 interns across various disciplines and aims to prepare graduates for future job placements by equipping them with relevant industry experience and competencies.
Tasks
Interns will be engaged in a wide range of hands-on activities depending on their field of study, such as:
- Engineering Interns will work in fields such as Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, and Town Planning to assist with infrastructure development, maintenance, and operational tasks.
- Finance/Supply Chain Interns will support procurement processes, budgeting, and reporting functions within the finance department.
- ICT Interns will gain exposure to IT support, systems analysis, and network management.
- Marketing and Communications Interns will assist with brand management, digital marketing, public relations, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for consideration:
- Hold a National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 7 or 8 qualification in a relevant field.
- Be currently unemployed and available full-time for the entire 12-month internship duration.

- Not currently participating in any internship, learnership, or funded programme.
- Must be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID.
