This structured, paid internship provides young graduates the opportunity to gain practical work experience in a variety of departments and specializations.
The internship is ideal for unemployed South African citizens who hold a UNISA qualification at NQF level 6 or above and are not currently engaged in formal employment or previously employed in internship roles.
Background & Job Description
UNISA’s Internship Programme 2025 is tailored to support graduates in bridging the gap between academic training and real-world professional environments. Interns will be placed across different UNISA departments in the Gauteng Region, including Student Administration, Counselling, and Technology Enhanced Services. The programme runs for a duration of 12 months, offering hands-on training and exposure aligned with the graduate’s field of study.
Start Date: 01 July 2025
Stipend: R120,925.00 per annum
Closing Date: 06 June 2025
Location: Gauteng Region (Johannesburg, Vaal, Ekurhuleni, Florida, Sunnyside)
Tasks
Selected interns will undertake the following tasks, depending on their placement area:
- Assist with administrative support functions.
- Maintain and manage student or departmental records.
- Engage with clients and students through communication platforms.
- Support technology-driven education services (Technology Enhanced Services interns).
- Provide basic psychological support services (Psychology interns).
- Assist finance and business teams with data entry, reporting, and documentation (Finance interns).
- Operate office management systems and uphold internal workflow processes.
Qualifications
To be eligible for this internship programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Age requirement: Not older than 35 years.
- Must be a UNISA graduate with an NQF Level 6 qualification or higher.
- Applicants must not have prior formal work experience in the field of application.
- Candidates previously appointed at UNISA or any other organization are not eligible.
- Applications for multiple positions must be submitted individually.
- Ensure the position reference number and UNISA student number are correctly indicated when applying.

➤ Honours Degree in Psychology
➤ Number of positions: 2 - GPT/08/2025 – Technology Enhanced Services (Jhb x2, Vaal x1, Ekurhuleni x1, Sunnyside x2, Florida x2)
➤ Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Computing, or Informatics
➤ Number of positions: 8
Experience
No prior work experience is required for this internship. The programme is designed specifically for first-time work seekers who have recently completed their UNISA qualification.
However, candidates must demonstrate the following core competencies:
