The South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative (SATVI), located within the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IDM), invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a 12-month contract as Clinical research Workers (CRW). The available positions are based at the SATVI Project Office in Worcester. This office works on various Tuberculosis research projects.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB:

  • Senior certificate (Grade 12)
  • Fluency in English and either Afrikaans or Xhosa (written and spoken for English and one other language) ensure to indicate on your CV what languages you are proficient in reading and writing
  • Computer literate and proficient in working on Microsoft Office
  • Valid Driver’s License for light vehicles and actively driving (manual)
  • Resides in the Breede Valley, Langeberg or Witzenberg sub-districts.
  • Knowledge of TB, HIV and the Cape Winelands East region

THE FOLLOWING WILL BE ADVANTAGEOUS:

  • Counselling experience
  • Good record keeping skills and experience as well as attention to detail
  • Good decision making and prioritising capabilities
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse team
  • Previous experience in clinical research with a current GCP certificate
  • Able to adapt to change effectively

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The appointee will be part of a dynamic team responsible for activities associated with clinical research. The role includes; participant recruitment (including assenting and consenting), counselling, data collection, assistance with clinical procedures, surveillance and community liaison. Flexibility with regard to standby as well as working after normal hours may be required, depending on the operational need of the organisation.

The annual cost of employment, including benefits (where applicable), is between R146, 339.00 and R255, 537.00.
