Responsibilities
As a Semi-Skilled Worker, you will support Senior Artisans and Artisans in performing design, operation, and maintenance tasks. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in executing support maintenance tasks in compliance with statutory regulations.
- Operating specialized equipment and power tools as per the University’s business needs.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Education: Grade 10
- Experience: At least 6 months of relevant experience in a workshop, maintenance, or manufacturing environment. Previous experience as a semi-skilled worker or semi-skilled artisan is essential.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license.
Required Competencies
Candidates should possess the following skills, knowledge, and attributes:
- Understanding of relevant equipment, power tools, and safety standards.
- Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
- Knowledge of materials, technical drawings, and national building and engineering standards.
- Strong technical aptitude, including the ability to use tools for repairs and maintenance.
- Problem-solving skills using analytical techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize, and work both independently and within a team.
- Self-motivation, discipline, and a customer-focused mindset.
Added Advantages
While not mandatory, the following qualifications and experience are advantageous:
- 2 years of experience within an institute of higher education.
- Relevant Engineering NCV Certificate or National Diploma (N6).
