University of the Free State (UFS): Star of Stars Bursary Competition 2024

University of the Free State (UFS): Star of Stars Bursary Competition 2024 The University of the Free State (UFS) is inviting students from the Free State province to apply for the Star of Stars Competition for the 2024 academic year. This competition offers bursaries for studies at UFS in 2025, in any field of study.

  • Closing Date: 15 August 2024

Selection Criteria

Students will be evaluated based on:

  • Academic performance
  • Leadership achievements
  • Community involvement

Competition Timeline

  • Top 20 finalists announced by 30 September 2024
  • Prizes delivered to eligible candidates at their schools
  • Winners announced during a gala evening in early February 2025
  • Top 10 finalists must attend the Star of Stars weekend and gala event

  • Paid in 2025 after registration at UFS

Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently in Matric in 2024
  • Residing in one of the following Free State districts: Fezile Dabi, Lejweleputswa, Motheo, Thabo Mofutsanyana, Xhariep
  • Attending a Quintile 1, 2, or 3 school in the Free State (no-fee school)
  • Strong academic record
  • Applied to UFS for the 2025 academic year
  • Agreement to the competition’s terms and conditions

How to Apply

  1. Download and complete the UFS Star of Stars Bursary Competition Application Form 2024 (.pdf)
  2. Submit the application with the following supporting documents:
    • Certified copy of ID document
    • Certified copy of Grade 11 final results
    • Certified copy of Matric March results
    • Certified copy of Matric June results
    • Proof of Grade 11 and Matric achievements (letters/certificates)
    • Motivational letter (approximately 500 words)
  3. Ensure the application form is stamped and signed by your school principal.
