Background & Job Description
A prominent logistics and distribution company in Johannesburg, Gauteng, is actively seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Debriefer to join their growing operations team. This full-time role is crucial to ensuring all delivery trip sheets, Proof of Deliveries (PODs), and driver logs are properly managed and reported in accordance with company policy.
The Debriefer will serve as the key point of contact for the debriefing of drivers, maintaining proper tracking of delivery performance, and ensuring vehicle-related incidents or damages are communicated to the appropriate distribution or operations managers.
Tasks
The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of operational, administrative, and customer service-related tasks:
Operational Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough debriefings with all delivery drivers.
- Match and verify trip sheets against tracking data for any unscheduled stops.
- Receive and securely manage vehicle keys after deliveries.
- Check all Proof of Deliveries (PODs) for discrepancies, such as shortages or damages.
- Use Trackmatic to allocate trips and finalize debriefing sessions.
- Manage Handheld Devices issued to drivers.
Administrative Duties
- Prepare the next day’s delivery documentation and trip schedules.
- Assign collection requests and manage seal-to-seal tracking procedures.
- Ensure accurate and timely document management.
Customer Service Duties
- Maintain high standards of customer interaction during debriefing.
- Promote effective communication with clients to ensure delivery satisfaction and feedback implementation.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualification criteria:
- Grade 12 (Matric) – This is a non-negotiable requirement.
- Must be computer literate – particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and similar programs.
- A solid understanding of Johannesburg and Gauteng’s local geography is critical.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for daily reporting and interaction.
Experience
While prior experience in a similar logistics or distribution environment is highly advantageous, this role emphasizes a results-driven mindset and strong administrative competency. Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with both drivers and operations teams.
- A track record of managing trip sheets, delivery discrepancies, and POD verification.
- Hands-on experience with Trackmatic or similar delivery tracking software.
- Familiarity with vehicle management processes including key and handheld device handling.
