Programme Overview

The Department of Tourism hereby invites applications from interested candidates to be part of the Tourism Monitors Programme for a period of four (4) months ending 31 August 2026. Candidates are encouraged to only apply to municipalities and establishments within their residential/local areas.

Successful candidates will be expected to sign a 4-month contract with the service provider appointed by the Department of Tourism and will be deployed at attractions/sites closer to their residence.


Requirements

  • Be a South African citizen (Certified copy of Identity Document)
  • Be unemployed youth between the ages of 18 to 35
  • Be in possession of a Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Be literate and conversant in English
  • Added qualifications in tourism or environmental-related fields will be an advantage
  • Stay within a 40km – 50km radius of the attractions/sites (Proof of residence required)
  • Be able to work flexible hours (weekends, public holidays, and when required)
  • Have a passion or interest in the tourism sector
  • Must have own reliable transport to and from workplace/station

Disqualification Criteria

  • Not more than one (1) learner per household
  • No affidavits will be accepted as proof of residence
