The Role: General Assistant
The General Assistant will be responsible for performing semi-skilled maintenance tasks, including planned maintenance, refurbishments, and new installations. - Assisting Artisans and Handymen: Aid in carrying out maintenance and repair tasks at CSIR sites, buildings, and facilities. This includes working on electrical systems, air conditioning units, and general building maintenance.
- Electrical Works: Conduct minor electrical tasks such as replacing light bulbs, performing preventative maintenance inspections, and working on light fittings, plugs, and wiring under the supervision of a qualified Artisan.
- Air Conditioning Maintenance: Assist with air conditioning maintenance, including cleaning filters and outdoor units, performing inspections, and conducting repairs and re-gassing under supervision.
- Building Maintenance: Participate in general building maintenance activities like painting, flooring, furniture repairs, and more. You’ll also assist with door systems, mounting whiteboards, and maintaining roof cleanliness.
- Facilities Duties: General housekeeping, maintaining cleanliness in work areas, handling equipment, and providing assistance to visitors and contractors. This also includes putting up warning signs and setting up temporary structures like scaffolding.
- Use of Tools and Equipment: Operate various tools and equipment, such as drills and grinders, while adhering to safety standards.
The Ideal Candidate: Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
