Job Purpose:

This internship focuses on ensuring the proper maintenance and management of vehicle tyres, in accordance with the company’s high standards and SLAs. The key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring Vehicles are Equipped with Proper Tyres: Before any vehicle leaves the yard, it must be checked to ensure it is fitted with the appropriate tyres as per the Service Level Agreement (SLA).
  • Conducting Monthly Vehicle Surveys: Every vehicle must undergo a thorough survey at least once a month to assess tyre conditions and other related factors.
  • Maintaining Tyre Health: All tyres must be kept in optimal condition. This includes routine checks and maintenance to prevent any issues.

Key Duties:

  1. Pressure Maintenance:
  • Perform regular tyre pressure checks.
  • Accurately record pressure readings on the Survey Sheet to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  1. Tread Depth Measurement:
  • Measure tread depth across three sections of the tyre tread area.
  • Record these measurements on the Survey Sheet to monitor tyre wear and ensure safety.
  1. Valve Cap and Extension Fitting:
  • Fit all wheel positions with valve caps.
  • On dual wheel positions, ensure valve extensions are properly installed.
  1. Tyre Movement Documentation:
  • Capture all tyre movements using a Tyre Change Slip to maintain an accurate log of all changes.
  1. Wheel Changes:
  • Execute all wheel changes in strict compliance with the SLA, ensuring efficiency and safety.

Requirements:

To be considered for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Must possess a National Senior Certificate.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English is essential.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years’ experience in tyre management or a related field is required.

General Responsibilities:

  • Customer Satisfaction: Ensure customer satisfaction by providing reliable and efficient service at all times.
  • Tool Maintenance:
  • Relax the torque wrench spring after each use to maintain tool longevity.
  • Lubricate impact tools daily to ensure they remain in optimal working condition.
  • Daily Equipment Care:
  • Drain water traps and the compressor daily to prevent damage and ensure safety.
  • Clean and store all equipment properly after use to maintain a tidy and safe work environment.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety procedures on site to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
