The Role: Call Centre Coordinator Operations

Key Responsibilities

The Call Centre Coordinator Operations at Kumba Iron Ore will play a crucial role in managing ad hoc and urgent work requests for tasks related to plant operations. The successful candidate will act as the first point of contact for all incoming general, emergency, and safety-related issues.

Some of the core responsibilities include:

  • Handling all incoming calls and verbal requests related to plant operations.
  • Capturing notifications within the SAP PM platform, assessing urgency based on the risk matrix, and converting notifications into work orders upon approval.
  • Reporting urgent matters to the RRT Foreman and Shift Supervisor.
  • Generating informative reports on callouts and executing tasks effectively.
  • Placing reservations for materials and creating purchase requisitions and purchase orders as needed.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety and health standards while promoting good housekeeping practices.
  • Managing general office administration tasks, including diary management and order processing.
  • Active participation in safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with all shift handover procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

In addition to the above, the Call Centre Coordinator Operations will:

  • Evaluate work requests based on Operational Maintenance (OM) requirements and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Prioritize urgent work requests in collaboration with the Shift Coordinator, RRT Foreman, and other relevant personnel.
  • Support continuous improvement by analyzing and refining processes in coordination with key team members.
  • Assist in communicating and logging significant events during shift operations, such as storms or other emergencies, ensuring plant personnel are kept informed.

This role is a crucial link between plant operations, maintenance, and supply chain stakeholders, ensuring that plant functionality remains uninterrupted and that any issues are swiftly addressed.

Qualifications and Experience Required

To be considered for the Call Centre Coordinator Operations position, candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience criteria:

  • Grade 12 Certificate or N3 Technical qualification.
  • SA Driver’s License.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • 2 – 3 years of experience within a plant operational environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and relevant SAP experience.
  • An understanding of the Urgent Work Matrix, equipment components, call center operations, RRT team functioning, and supply chain systems.
  • Familiarity with company policies and procedures will be an added advantage.
