Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, applicants must possess the following qualifications and experience:
Educational Requirements:
- A Diploma or Degree in Nursing in compliance with R425, or an equivalent qualification that qualifies for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- A post-basic nursing qualification of at least one year, accredited by SANC as per Government Notice No. R212 in the relevant specialty.
Professional Experience:
- A minimum of four years of appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing post-registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
- At least one year of the required experience must be within a psychiatric setting.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will undertake the following responsibilities at Tara the H. Moross Centre:
Optimal Mental Health Nursing Care:
- Provide comprehensive mental health nursing care adhering to the highest standards.
- Develop and implement holistic care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
Training and Mentorship:
- Participate in training, research, and supervision of student and junior nurses.
- Offer advanced psychiatric nursing skills and guidance to junior staff and students.
Compliance and Ethical Practice:
- Maintain a thorough understanding of nursing legislation and ethical practices.
- Ensure strict adherence to professional and ethical standards at all times.
Resource Management and Standards Implementation:
- Manage and utilize resources efficiently.
- Implement National Regulated Norms and Standards and Ideal Hospital Framework Standards.
Committee Participation and Leadership:
- Engage in various hospital committees to improve service delivery.
- Act as a shift leader in the unit in the absence of the Unit Manager, ensuring seamless operations and compliance with professional practices.
