Key Responsibilities:
As a cashier, your responsibilities will include:
- Customer Service:
- Support the customer service at the point of sale, ensuring every customer enjoys an excellent shopping experience.
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship with customers.
- Address customer complaints or compliments by reporting them to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
- Transaction Handling:
- Process all customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system according to company policies.
- Transact purchases by receiving and processing payments in various forms, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and more.
- Ensure all outgoing items (including scripts) are scanned and paid for.
- Security and Accuracy:
- Ensure all cash is safely secured inside the till and follow Dis-Chem’s cash handling procedures.
- Stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to store management.
- Handle all daily takings confidentially.
- Sales and Promotions:
- Be aware of ongoing sales and promotions to assist customers effectively.
- Support loyalty card processing, including accelerator partner programs (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks).
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12/Matric certificate
- 6 months of cashier/till operations experience
- MS Office proficiency
- Basic customer service skills
- Strong numerical ability
Skills & Competencies:
Essential:
- Cash register operations and managing cash drawers.
- Knowledge of processing sales, refunds, and payments.
- Proficiency in English (both written and oral).
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Social awareness, emotional intelligence, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling money.
Advantageous:
- Fluency in a third additional language.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Reliable transport or residence near Weskus Mall.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Clear credit and criminal records are required.
