The internship program spans 12 months, starting from 1 August 2024 and concluding on 31 July 2025. During this period, the selected interns will rotate every six weeks between Jacaranda FM in Midrand and VowFM at Wits University in Johannesburg. - News Desk Operations: Working on the news desk and learning the intricacies of news production.

VowFM
At VowFM, interns will focus on developing their skills in these key areas:
- Daily Bulletins: Compiling and reading daily news bulletins.
- Field Reporting: Reporting from the field and covering various events.
- Story Packaging: Creating and packaging stories for current affairs programs.
- News Programming: Being actively involved in daily news and current affairs programming.
- Social Media: Updating social media platforms with news content.
- Short Courses: Undertaking short courses with the Wits Radio Academy to enhance their journalism skills.
Requirements
To be considered for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree or 3-year National Diploma in Journalism or a related field.
- Driver’s Licence: A valid driver’s licence or in the process of obtaining one.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent command of the English language, with a preference for bilingual candidates (Afrikaans and English).
- Writing and Voicing Skills: Strong ability to write and voice scripts for radio.
- Fact-Checking: Ability to check facts, accuracy, and quality of stories.
- Technical Skills: Experience in operating studio and field recording and production equipment.
- Editing Skills: Basic editing and multi-track mixing experience.
