Essential Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: A Grade 12 Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
  • Driving Credentials: A valid driver’s license will be considered an added advantage.
  • Professional Registration: Current and valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA), Intermediate Life Support (ILS), Emergency Care Technician (ECT), or Emergency Care Assistant (ECA).
  • Assessment: Candidates must successfully pass a formal written test and interview.
  • Identification: A valid RSA ID Document is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Policy and Procedure Compliance: Strict adherence to all policies and standard operating procedures of the Department of Health and Gauteng EMS.
  2. Emergency Response: Ensure timely response to all dispatched emergency calls, adhering to EMS protocols.
  3. Patient Care: Attend to emergency incidents, provide coordination, and deliver treatment to patients and other emergencies within the operational area.
