Qualifications & Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Blasting Certificate: A valid blasting certificate is essential.
  • Mining Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in the mining industry.
  • First Aid Certificate: A current first aid certificate is required.
  • Medical Fitness: Applicants must be medically fit for work in the specified area.
  • Security Clearance: A clean security screening record is necessary.
  • Educational Requirement: Minimum education level of Grade 10 or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities

Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Supervision:

  • Uphold SHE standards within the work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with SHE requirements.
  • Adhere to and apply SHE standards.

Quality Management System (QMS):

  • Follow the Quality Management System’s requirements.

Risk Assessments:

  • Participate in risk assessments and implement appropriate risk mitigation actions.
  • Effectively address workplace hazards and risks.

Task Analysis:

  • Conduct Task Analyses and take actions to address identified risks.

Behavioral Based Safety:

  • Perform Safety Behavior Observations (SBOs) to maintain a safe working environment.

Related Opportunities:

  • Engage in start-of-day and start-of-shift preparations to ensure all mining activities are covered.

Start of Day Preparation:

  • Verify staffing figures at the start of the day.
  • Ensure coverage for all mining activities.
  • Collect necessary equipment, including cap lamps, self-rescuers, and GDIs.

Start of Shift Preparation:

  • Adhere to the Shaft schedule.
  • Check material deliveries and allocate them accordingly.
  • Verify the availability of underground services such as air pressure, water, and power.
  • Conduct start-of-shift Waiting Place procedures, including roll-call and team meetings.
