Job Purpose
To assist the team leader in the execution of waste water collection works.
Appointment Requirements
- Ability to perform duties (including physical ability, basic literacy and experience)
- Relevant experience in the general maintenance of a waste water collection network will be an added advantage
- Physical fitness and health with no back problems
- Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost
- Willingness and ability to work shifts, standby and overtime on request

Primary Functions
- Clear sewer blockages
- Excavate and backfill trenches by making use of shovels, pick axes, rakes and rammers for the purpose of repairing sewer network pipes
- Load and unload equipment, materials and tools in the plumber’s truck
- Man and operate water pumping equipment
- Assist the supervisor with aligning and fitting water pipe sections while doing repairs
- Conduct general responsibilities, such as handling tools and equipment to supervisors, cleaning workplace after job completion, cleaning and loading tools and adhering to the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993)
- Conduct any other general work, including cleaning the depot and washing the plumber’s vehicle
