The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) Health Department invites unemployed individuals to apply for short-term job opportunities lasting up to 12 months. These roles are available across regions A, B, C, D, E, F, and G to support local health facilities with data capturing, general work, and queue marshalling.

Position Details:

  • Salary: R3,500 per month
  • Location: Various Regions (A–G)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Minimum Grade 10 qualification or higher
  • Preferably youth aged 18 to 35 years
  • Residents of the specified regions
  • Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply
  • Knowledge of City processes, health/social programs, and best practices
  • Good numeracy, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Basic familiarity with electronic devices, including email and internet

Key Responsibilities:

General Worker Duties:

  • Maintain cleanliness in waiting areas, consulting rooms, kitchens, and laundry spaces
  • Clean and prepare clinical procedure rooms
  • Sort and replace soiled linen
  • Empty waste bins and ensure clinic premises remain tidy

Data Capturer Duties:

  • Record and update customer information in the system
  • Compile and report monthly clinic visitor statistics
  • Organize and file records alphabetically or chronologically
  • Manage appointments and maintain stationery and records inventory

Queue Marshal Duties:

  • Greet and assist patients and visitors with directions and information
  • Ensure smooth patient flow through clinic areas
  • Manage queues and direct clients appropriately
  • Handle helpdesk inquiries and patient concerns

Key Performance Areas:

  • Monitor and report on program activities and outcomes
  • Collaborate effectively and maintain responsibility and organizational skills
  • Exhibit sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to perform under pressure
